I love Jean Cocteau always and forever.I was just rewatching his beautiful La bete et la bete last week and I realized that he filmed it in occupied France (in the 40s). I know that almost everyone he employed on the set (from actors to camera people) was gay and I imagine that he did that as a way of subverting Nazi support of the French film industry.
